ARE YOU LIVING A DOUBLE LIFE?
Many people are living a double life, not because they want to but just because they have been deceived about what being a disciple of Jesus is all about.
Because a wrong picture of Jesus has been painted, portraying Him as being easy going on sin.
This is because Jesus was and still is so welcoming of sinners.
So many misinterpret it thinking it means He doesn’t mind sin as long as you go to church and stay away from “major sins.”
Jesus’ relationship with sinners in the bible was so welcoming because He came to save, not to condemn.
And if He wanted to save the sinners,He had to go to the sinners.
But once He came to the sinners,He was always so quick to forgive but commanded them to go and sin no more.(John 8:11)
This shows us Jesus isn’t easy going on sin.
He is merciful and loving but commands His disciples to go and sin no more.
Jesus even teaches His disciples to approach sin radically by cutting off the hand that sins, plucking out the eye,in other words He’s telling us to do whatever it takes to overcome our sin so that we will not go to hell.(Mark 9:43-47)
The same Jesus who is so loving and gentle says you must strive to enter through the narrow gate because many will be closed out because of their sin.(Luke 13:23-28)
The same Jesus who is so loving and forgiving says unless you repent you will perish.(Luke 13:3)
Jesus is the Lamb;so gentle and loving, sacrificing Himself for the salvation of humanity, but at the same time He’s also the Lion of Judah who overcomes satan, fierce in holiness executing judgement on sin and helping believers to overcome the world as He did.
Both life and judgement are through the Son.
If we only choose one part of His character we will be mistaken about who Jesus really is.
His true character is that He is so loving and welcoming to everyone but He doesn’t expect those people to continue in sin but to turn from their sins
Jesus will say of those disciples who continue in sin,”I never knew you.”(Matthew 7:21-23)
Don’t be a disciple of Jesus but continuing to engage in sin.
Don’t just pray and appear holy at church then go back home to watch ungodly entertainment,to live in sexual sin, lies and all other sin.
Don’t sing for God then after that listen to and sing sercular music.
Don’t watch and listen to things that normalize sin.
Don’t pray but then dress half naked like the world.
Don’t pray but engage in sexual sin.
Don’t pray but entertain lust in your heart.
Don’t pray and yet talk down on people and gossip.
You must fully consecrate to Jesus Christ.
As disciples of Jesus we must be seperate from the world.
Living a double life is a true waste because if we do that Jesus will reject us.
This is the very reason why many perish and few are saved.
You cannot be a friend of Jesus and a friend of the world.
Friendship with the world is enmity with God.(James 4:4)
Even if you pray and go to church but you engage in sin, loving the things of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
This is why the path to eternal life is narrow.
If you have been living a double life, you can completely surrender to Jesus now.
Don’t feel intimidated that you can never overcome your sin.
You can overcome if you start to pray daily, and ask Jesus to fill you with the Holyspirit.
You will overcome if you deliberately stop your sin then start to pray daily, whether you feel like praying or not.
The only way to stop backsliding is by remaining consistent in prayer.
Stay connected to Jesus by taking your prayer life seriously.
Being a disciple of Jesus is about having a relationship with Jesus and living in obedience to Him so that you become different from people who don’t know God and shine as His light.
Revelation 5:5-6
“But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”
And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth.”
Acts 10:42-43
“And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.
To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
John 12:48
“He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”
