HOW ARE WE SAVED BY GRACE?
Grace is that while you and I were lost in sin,Jesus Christ came to die for us.Paying the punishment He didn’t deserve but we did. That is God’s grace to us!
Grace is that even though we do not deserve it, we can freely be forgiven of our past sins because of the blood of Jesus and become God’s children, that is His grace!
Grace is that even future sins we might commit can still be freely forgiven once we repent (abandon them) and return to Jesus.
Grace leads us to repentance.
Because Jesus has forgiven our sins now we live for Him,we don’t go back to sin.
But GRACE IS NOT that we can continue to live in our sins because Jesus paid the price.
Jesus did not pay the price to enable people stay on in their sin.
That is trampling on the sacrifice of Christ, treating His prescious blood as worthless, and insulting His grace to us.
Jude 1:4
“For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, WHO TURN THE GRACE OF OUR GOD INTO LEWDNESS and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.”
*Lewdness meaning licentiousness, wickedness, unbridled lust.In other words they think God’s grace gives them freedom to freely sin and the bible says these people because of this have denied our Lord Jesus by their lifestyle of thinking God’s grace permits them to live in sin.
There is no forgiveness of sins while people continue to commit those sins.
Forgiveness comes when there is repentance and forsaking of sin.
Those who die in sin can never find forgiveness because forgiveness is only found here on earth when we turn from our sin and put our faith in Jesus.
Ephesians 2:8-10
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
not of works, lest anyone should boast.
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus FOR GOOD WORKS, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
We are saved by grace(Jesus’ sacrifice that has made it possible for our sins to be forgiven, making us pure before God) through faith in Jesus.
No one can ever boast that it was because of what they did that is why they were saved.
Everyone who will be saved will be saved because of Jesus’ death.
That is why a Muslim or Hindu cannot be saved no matter how morally upright they are because they have not put their faith in Jesus.
A Muslim or Hindu living a life that adheres to all God’s commands can still not be saved because there’s only One way of salvation, which is Jesus Christ.
Whatever morally upright things they do cannot save them because they have not put their faith in Jesus Christ.
Our faith in Jesus is what will save us.
But that faith in Jesus will have to be tested and found to be true for us to be saved.
That is why on the day of judgement God will judge our works because our works will testify wether or not we had put our faith in Jesus.
Anyone can claim that they have believed in Jesus but God will check a person’s works(behavior, dressing, speech, thoughts and everything else in their life) to see if they had faith in Jesus.
If they truly had put their faith in Jesus the evidence in their works will be a godly life in every area.
Those who put their faith in Jesus are those who abandon their sin because His life is in them, they live for God’s glory.
2 Timothy 2:19
“Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ DEPART FROM INIQUITY.”
When our works are judged on that day and found to be works of darkness,it will be a clear testimony that we still belonged to the darkness, that is why we had works of darkness (sin).
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit.
We will be saved by our faith in Jesus, but that faith will be checked by our works because they are the best testimony.
It’s not possible to have the Spirit of God yet embrace darkness.
Our faith in Jesus will make us obey Him,it will make us hate what He hates.
There’s salvation from sin in Jesus.
Jesus can save anyone from any bondage of sin.
But you must take a step towards Him.
Seek Jesus to save you from sinful desires that you may bear good fruit.
Revelation 20:12
“And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS, by the things which were written in the books.”
Hebrews 10:28-29
“Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?”
