Over the years I have come across many people who want to give up on God because of pain they are going through.
But Jesus shows us that the right way of dealing with our pain and sorrow is by praying, not staying away from God.
If it hurts so much, pray even more!
The more painful something is,the more you should pray.
Be like little children who run to their mother.
Whenever a child is in pain, their instinct is to run to their mom.
They won’t run from their mom because of pain, they will hold on to her even more!
It’s what Jesus did.
Because of the pain and sorrow before betrayal,He prayed and trusted God.
Because the pain was so much He kept going back to pray about it,three times.
He didn’t stop praying just because He was in pain, but because He was in pain,He prayed even more.
He knew God was His only hope and committed Himself to Him.
Matthew 26:38-44
“Then He said to them, ‘My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.’
He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.’
Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, ‘What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.’
Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, ‘O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.’
And He came and found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy.
So He left them, went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.”
