IS USING CONTRACEPTIVES A SIN?
By God's grace,I usually counsel married people and they ask me this question.So I am throwing it back to those who believe in this motion.
Questions to my friends who believe that using contraceptives is a sin.
REASONS THEY GIVE
1.They say Children are a gift from God.The answer is that the Scriptures also say that a wife is a gift from the Lord in Proverbs 18:22 but that doesn't mean that it is wrong to stay single according to 1 Corinthians 7:8.Despite the bible saying a wife is a gift from the Lord we can still choose whether to have one or not.So in the same way despite the bible saying children are a gift from God,we can choose whether to have them or not.The bible saying children are a gift from God doesn't put us on the spot to have them just as we are not put on the spot to have a wife just because the bible says its a good thing.We choose.
2.They say one should have children without end because God will provide the finances.The answer is that,for example if a person always gives a certain amount to an Organisation every year,why don't they just decide to give double that amount every year and say God will provide? Rather,they plan so that their finances can be sufficient. They don't want to apply that Scripture to other areas of their lives.The book of proverbs continuously talks about wisdom.We should know how to use it.
3.They say Genesis says to be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth.The answer is,for example you are given a gigantic allocation of land and you are told to subdue the land what do you do? Just because you've been told to subdue the land do you farm on all of it even though you may not be able to take care of it,water it and have enough money to put fertiliser on all the crops? NO,as a farmer,though you have been given all the land and been told to subdue it,you would only farm on an area you are able to manage.
Although the Psalm which says "blessed is the man whose quiver is full of children," is true,we also need to realize that God has not given everyone the same size quiver. And so birth control is a gift from God that may be used for the wise regulation of the size of one's family, as well as a means of seeking to have children at the right time.
Even Jesus said in Luke14:28 that which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it.Lest after he has laid the foundation and is unable to finish it,those who see him will mock him.
4.They say using contraceptives is killing unborn babies,it is not so because a man's sperm must unite with a woman's egg before a baby can be formed.So there is no baby to kill.Killing a baby is when a baby is formed in the womb and then it is terminated using medicines or other forms.It is called abortion.
5.They say God punished the man called Onan when he spilled his sperm to the ground.The answer is that they are twisting that verse.That verse does not talk about contraceptives at all.God Punished Onan because he did not want to perform his duty towards his brother according to the law of Moses. Genesis 38:8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.”But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also.God punished him for not fulfilling the law and not that it was because he was using that as a contraceptive as some people twist it.
They also say that you should not use artificial ways of avoiding pregnancy.I will say this to them,when you are sick,just use herbs and do not take any medication because you believe that these medicines are wrong.The bible shows Luke as a medical doctor in old english,a physician in Colossians 4:14.They say you should be only meeting on Safe days for a woman.But a woman's ovulation cycle changes so that is not even reliable and it also goes against the scripture which says only to avoid meeting when praying.
6.Some women have complained that if they do not use contraceptives,they easily get pregnant and can even get pregnant in a very short time just after giving birth.So the people who believe that contraceptives are wrong answer them saying, 'only sleep with your husband when you want to get pregnant.For the purpose of Procreation.'
Their answer objects to 1 Corinthians 7:9 which says,
But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.' Which clearly shows from the bible that marriage is also for relieving sexual passion and not for procreation only.
And another question I would like to ask those who say just sleep with your wife for procreation purposes,when your wife has reached menopause,are you going to stop sleeping with her since you believe its for for procreation purposes?
7.The same women who are scared of getting pregnant end up not sleeping with their husbands for fear of getting pregnant.So their husbands cheat on them and they are out there crying.
The only reason the bible gives for a husband and wife to not sleep with each other is given in 1 Corinthians 7 it says "The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. Do not deprive each other except perhaps by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you."
Even this verse alone shows that it is not for the purpose of procreation alone.A woman can only get pregnant once a year yet the bible says come together again so that Satan will not tempt you.If it is for procreation alone then why come together according to that verse when your wife is already pregnant?
They also say 1Timothy 2:15 says a woman shall be saved through child bearing.Let me ask this question does that mean that every woman who has given birth will be saved automatically?even witches,muslims or hindus? Thaf verse says she will be saved if she continues in holiness,faith love and self control.It is talking about her bringing up the children in the way of the Lord.You don't get saved just because you have given birth.
Bretheren.The bible says to test every Spirit so I would like to test the Spirit that says contraceptives are wrong.
Never has a Revelation opposed so many Scriptures in the bible and left so many questions in people's minds.I am talking about the Revelation of Gabriel Doufle from Togo who claims he saw people burning in hell because they used contraceptives.
When we see a Revelation,we should see if it matches with the bible.We should never forget that Satan comes as an Angel of light in order to deceive us.If the devil wants to deceive you, he will tell you many true things but throw a lie here and there in order to deceive and sway you. These poor women are now afraid to sleep with their husbands.This Revelation has broken marriages and caused confusion in homes.This also opposes the verse which says ◄ Mark 10:9 which says "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." And Hebrews 13:4 which says that Marraige is honourable among all and the bed undefiled.
How can a Revelation from God conflict with uncountable verses from the bible?The bible is our only standard.And how can it break marraiges when the Lord clearly says he hates divorce and how can it cause people's husbands to commit adultery? I am just weighing it against the bible.And if it brings so many question marks then should I also believe the other 'new revelations' in that testimony?
Please,am asking for answers to my questions in the post.Also considering all the scriptures which this Revelation is conflicting with. Please no one should tell me that brother so and so is preaching it or sister so and so.No human will judge us,only God.
People take offense when you begin to evaluate their testimony using the bible. No one is opposing but we are just testing the Spirit to see how a revelation can contradict so so many bible scriptures and encourage sin.
The Lord confirmed to me that using contraceptives is not a sin.And no one goes to hell for using contraceptives.It is not compulsary to use them.One can choose.The Lord just said its not a sin to use them.Beware of Gabriel Doufle's other testimonies which have truth mixed with lies.
