As we see it is of Significance such that Obama saw it necessary to visit Kenya and now the Pope is visiting it as well as drawing masses of people to him regardless of their denomination.

Isaiah 18: 1-2 "Beyond the rivers of Ethiopia there is a land where the sound of wings is heard. From that land ambassadors come down the Nile in boats made of reeds. Go back home, swift messengers! Take a message back to your land divided by rivers, to your strong and powerful nation, to your tall and smooth-skinned people, who are feared all over the world"

The phrase, “beyond the river,” points, as in Zephaniah 3:10, to the region of the White and the Blue Nile, south of Meroe or Sennar, and not far from the Lake Nyanza of modern explorers. This is an area that roughly corresponds to Kenya in Africa

The Phrase “From that land ambassadors come down the Nile in boats made of reeds”, it "sends envoys (ambassadors) over the sea" , "shipping emissaries all over the world" we know that the Nile originates in Kenya and flows to the Mediterrenean through Egypt.
The word “ Ambassadors” means Lord’s messengers, end-time messengers

The Phrase: “Take a message back to your land divided by rivers, to your strong and powerful nation, to your tall and smooth-skinned people, who are feared all over the world” The messengers are sent by God to take the gospel to a land divided by rivers. Given that the military prominence of this nation figures largely later on, we might assume that this is a reference to the sounds of jets and helicopters. No other nation has the fearsome air power of the US. To further qualify the nation being addressed, Isaiah then describes its people, its geography, and its power. The people are described as tall and smooth-skinned. Handsome and bronzed are words used in other translations. What image do other parts of the world have of the appearance of Americans, especially from American TV shows piped all over the world? Tall, attractive, smoothed-skinned people. The geography of the land these people live in is "a land divided by rivers". That also describes the US.
