So the disciple is to be like his master,the disciple is supposed to learn from the master.
Jesus regarded prayer as a very important part of His life.
We read of Him often going off alone to an isolated place to pray,sometimes spending all night alone in prayer.(Luke 5:16,luke 4:42,luke 6:12).
The disciple too must dedicate time to God in prayer.The disciple too must approach prayer with the seriousness that the master approached it when He even spent all night in prayer sometimes.That's how serious Our Lord Jesus Christ took prayer.It wasn't just a casual event,but prescious time spent with the Father.
It is really good to pray in church and with other people,but we must also have the private time with God.
When you isolate yourself to just be with God alone.
The master spent time in the wilderness fasting,the disciple too must spend time in prayer and fasting.
You don't go to hell for not fasting,but fasting is important for Christians as it draws us closer to God and helps us to focus on Him.Even the Apostles fasted after Jesus had gone to heaven.(Acts 14:23).
So the disciple must learn from the master.
