THE POWER OF PRAISE/WORSHIP
Hi friends,we always talk about the power of prayer,but today I’d like to talk about the power of praising and worshiping the Lord.
Praising the Lord is also a form of spiritual warfare just like praying is.
My decision to write this post stems from a dream the Lord gave me yesterday, which has made me realise just how powerful our praise to God is!
In the dream,I was with my sister Rachael and we were singing to the Lord. We were singing so loudly and clapping our hands with all joy and gladness!
Then I noticed that there were demons that were watching us and they were not happy about this.
They were so angry and were trying to attack us. They would come flying towards us and get so close that I thought they would harm us,but they would bounce off when they tried to get too close,as if there was a perimeter within which they were not allowed.
The bouncing was automatic. They would come with full force flying but would bounce off when they tried to grab us,as if there was an invisible force surrounding us.
Then I realised that it was because we were singing to the Lord,that is why God had created a hedge of protection around us. The demons could not reach us.
This made me understand the power of praise, and that it is also a form of winning the victory over Satan!
Why is it so? This is because praise acknowledges the power of God and puts Him in a position to act for His children. Praise exalts God and puts Him in a position of power.
Psalms 22:3-4 “But You are holy, ENTHRONED in the PRAISES of Israel. Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them.
We set God on a THRONE by praising Him. He sits on the throne of our praises!
Psalm 29: 1-2 “Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, GIVE UNTO THE LORD GLORY AND STRENGTH Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.”
Next time you Praise or Worship the Lord,know that there is GREAT POWER in doing that. Praising the Lord is more than it looks,what you are doing is acknowledging the power of God. In itself,it is a form of prayer.
There are times when Rachael and I have set out to pray and we were led to sing to the Lord instead. The Lord sometimes leads us to do this. We’ll sing and praise and worship the Lord in His Majesty. After we are done we will even be feeling as if we’re from praying!
This is not to say one should only praise and not pray, both are significant as they serve different purposes and both should be embraced. However there are times when God will lead you to praise Him and He will breakthrough just as though you had prayed.
2 Chronicles 20 also shows us how the Lord won the battle for King Jehoshaphat just through singing. They didn’t even need to fight. All they needed to do was to praise the Lord!
1-2 “It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat. Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A GREAT MULTITUDE is coming against you from beyond the Sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar” (which is En Gedi).
21 “And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should SING to the Lord, and who should PRAISE the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:
“Praise the Lord,
For His mercy endures forever.”
22.Now when they BEGAN to SING and to PRAISE, the Lord set AMBUSHES against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were DEFEATED.
Paul and Silas also experienced victory through praising the Lord when they were imprisoned.
Acts 16: 25-26 “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and SINGING hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. SUDDENLY, there was a GREAT EARTHQUAKE, so that the FOUNDATIONS of the PRISON WERE SHAKEN and immediately all the DOORS were OPENED and everyone’s CHAINS WERE LOOSED.
Praise can OPEN every PRISON DOOR that Satan had LOCKED YOU IN regardless of whether it is sin or the lack of a breakthrough,and can LOOSE every CHAIN that is holding you CAPTIVE.
That is why Satan hates it, because it is also a weapon for spiritual warfare. It brings victory to the Christian’s life. However, we need not worry about him because he is a defeated foe.
Psalms 150, ” Praise the Lord!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord!”
