THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT
As Christians,we should normalize reading the word of God because it is our weapon against sin and Satan.
Jesus when when being tempted after 40 days of fasting in the wilderness used the word of God as a weapon against Satan. He had an ANSWER to rebuke every temptation even when Satan tried to TWIST the SAME word of God to make Him sin. Matthew Chapter 4.
Reading the bible should not feel strange. When you lift up the bible to read,it should not feel like you are doing a strange activity because you don’t know the last time you laid your eyes on scripture.
The Word of God is our daily bread bread.
If you rarely read the word,pray,fast etc,know that this is a reflection of your spiritual man.
It should not be a surprise when you easily fall into sin. It’s because you flesh and it’s desires have not been crucified. Galatians Chapter 5.
The WORD of God is also part of the Armour of God.
Ephesians 6:17 “And take the helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit which IS the WORD OF GOD…”
It is a SWORD with which you can slash and pierce the enemy when he comes in whatever form!
This means that without the word of God,you are in battle without a sword. Now if a soldier goes into war without a weapon to attack his enemy with,it is GUARANTEED that he will be defeated.
The WORD is NOT an option. It is a SWORD. A necessary battle weapon.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.”
Romans 15:4
“For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
Joshua 1:8
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
