WHAT GOD TAUGHT ME ABOUT UNFORGIVENESS
It doesn’t matter if you were the one on the right and the other person was wrong.
Still you must forgive because unforgiveness will cost your soul.
Jesus said that if you do not forgive others neither will your sins be forgiven.
Therefore even when someone isn’t sorry,still you must forgive them to save your soul.
Here’s what Jesus told me on why it’s dangerous to hold a grudge.
The Lord told me this about four years ago when someone wronged me and wasn’t even apologetic.
Jesus told me I still needed to forgive because if I don’t forgive, neither can my sins be forgiven.
The Lord Jesus told me that why people who don’t forgive others cannot go to heaven is because,If two people have a grudge against each other they cannot go to heaven.If the person you have a grudge against goes to heaven,and you also go to heaven,how are you going to live together in heaven? Because once you enter the spiritual realm everything pauses in the very state you died.
If you died with a grudge,you cannot forgive in death.
It means you will forever have a grudge against that person even if you both go to heaven,you will have a grudge against them in heaven.
So since you cannot have grudges in heaven,that means you cannot go to heaven.
So the time to forgive is now when we are still alive.
Once we die,we cannot forgive in death and our sins will not be forgiven.
Satan may lie to you that it will make you look foolish to forgive someone who isn’t apologetic,but it’s better to look foolish and please God,than to be proud and unforgiving then go to hell.
If we forgive only people who are apologetic and sorry for their actions,how different are we from the people of the world?
Because even they forgive people who are sorry and apologize.
But Jesus wants us to forgive even those who are not sorry for their actions do that we hold no grudge against anyone.
That’s why even Jesus forgave the people who crucified them and even prayed for them despite them not being apologetic.
They weren’t sorry and were mocking and killing Him but He asked God to forgive them.
Stephen also had the strength to forgive people who were not sorry for their actions.
As they stoned him to death,he prayed for them for God to forgive them.
That can only be the power of the Holyspirit because our human instinct is to revenge.
But the Holyspirit is able to give us the same strength when we pray and ask Him.
Unforgiveness costs eternal life.
You can lose your salvation just because you did not forgive someone.
By holding a grudge,you gain nothing.
But you lose salvation.
Matthew 6:15
[15]But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
SO HOW CAN YOU TRULY FORGIVE?
Sometimes people can deceive themselves that they have forgiven someone yet whenever they think of the person all they wish is for bad things to happen to them,and when they talk about the person they are always so bitter.
That means even though the person may claim to have forgiven they still haven’t and they have a grudge against that person.
But Jesus Christ can help us to forgive if we ask Him.
The Bible says pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
There’s a reason why Jesus said we need to pray for them.
It’s because only the Holyspirit can help us to forgive those people.
We can forgive even the most painful wrongs if we pray for those people.
At first it can be very painful to pray for them and to ask Jesus to help us to forgive them, because we may feel we were right.
But when we humble ourselves despite what we think is our entitlement just because we want to be obedient to Jesus,He works on our hearts and helps us to truly forgive that we may have no grudge against those people who wronged us.
We need to pray for them and keep praying for them and ask Jesus to help us forgive them and to take away the hurt and anger and to help us love them,and Jesus does this miraculous work in our lives so that we may not even wish them evil because vengeance isn’t ours,God has asked us to forgive.
And when we keep praying for them God changes our hearts that we won’t even wish those people evil but good.
It’s very painful to pray good things for people who hurt us and to not wish them evil but it’s really powerful when we do because God works on our hearts to change us.
There are some people in life who are toxic and anytime you’re close to them they’ll keep hurting you because they’re unwilling to change their behavior.
So forgiving such people doesn’t mean keeping a close relationship with them.
You can forgive them and then keep a healthy distance to prevent them from hurting you.
When you pray for them Jesus will help you not to have a grudge against them and even when you meet them you can say hello to them without feeling the pain of their past actions but you can still keep a distance to prevent further disagreements because Jesus hasn’t called us to force relationships with people,but He has called us to peace.
And when someone doesn’t want a peaceful relationship with you,it’s okay to keep your distance as long as you hold no grudge against them.
Matthew 5:43-46
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?”
