Blessings of Obedience
If prosperity preachers truly cared about people being blessed, they would tell them to repent and live in obedience to God.
The blessings of God are only found in obedience.(Deuteronomy 28)
When we first seek the Kingdom of God (seeking God in Truth and Spirit, not just because you want a blessing), everything else will be added to you.(Matthew 6:33)
But when we only want to seek God because we want His blessings but continue in sin,we will neither find the Lord nor His blessings that we seek.
His ears will be closed to our prayers and His face will be turned from us because of our sins.
But the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are attentive to their prayers.
We cannot use God for our benefit and continue in sin.
God’s blessings are in obedience.
Disobedience attracts a curse because you live as an enemy of God.
James 4:4
“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.”
Many people do not get their prayers answered because they only seek a blessing from the Lord and are unwilling to repent, and God does not answer.
They’re not willing to give their lives fully to the Lord in repentance, they just want to use Him.
It is God’s nature to be good and even when people are in sin, they will still see some of His mercy and blessings, but there are many more things that God had planned for His people which they do not receive because they are living in sin.
There are also many prayers that will go unanswered because of sin.
The book of Kings is a good example of the consequences of sin and rewards of obedience to the Lord.
In the book of Kings, disobedience always led to God cutting the reign of the king, and turning people’s hearts to conspire against the disobedient kings.
Obedience led to the Lord establishing their reign.
David was one of the most obedient kings and because of that even when he was long dead,God still spared his descendants from certain punishments for David’s sake.
Even now,the consequence of sin isn’t just destruction in hell, but it attracts alot of bad things that happen to people because of the doors open to the enemy.
Not every bad thing that happens is because of sin, some can be trials even for people living in obedience to the Lord but when people live in sin, they cannot receive the blessings God had planned for them and even though they pray for blessings God will not hear.
Obedience turns the Lord’s heart towards you, for Him to answer your prayers.
There is a difference between the prayers of people who choose to continue living in sin and those who repent and follow God with all their hearts.
James 5:16
“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”
But disobedience leads to your prayers being hindered and finally eternal destruction in hell.
Psalms 34:15-16
“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.
The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.”
Isaiah 59:2
“But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”
