A SUDDEN DEATH
This afternoon as I got off work, I found a crowd of people gathered right outside my workplace including police, paramedics and the fire brigade. I also saw a tipper truck that had overturned, lying on its side. When I asked someone what was going on, he told me that under the tipper truck were two people on whom it had fallen and they were currently trapped under the truck as we spoke. This sent shivers of fear all over my body. The people had been passing on the road walking when the truck that was carrying query stones lost its balance when turning and fell on them.
About 45 minutes elapsed as the authorities tried to get the truck off of them. Everyone was hoping it could be done quicker in order to save lives, but the truck was so huge and heavy that it took a long time to lift off. I was moved when they finally managed to lift the truck off only to reveal dead bodies. Its so disheartening.
The point of this post is that we should all be ready for death at any second. Death is like rapture. No one knows when they will die.
These people have died in the most unexpected way. They thought they would end the day like the rest of us and even made plans for tomorrow. Let us stop taking our walk with God causally as though we manage time. None of us knows how many seconds we have left on the clock of life. Let us live our lives fully for God and teach others to do the same. The bible says that today is the day of salvation. Let us obey today because we do not know if we’ll even see tomorrow.
Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”
