DEAD IN AN INSTANT
James 4:14 ” Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”
As a journalist by profession,I see many things that remind me of just how fragile life is and how we should value each moment here on earth. We should use every moment to the Glory of God. None of us knows tomorrow. We can make all sorts of plans but in less than a minute,our existence here may be history.That is why the only one we should please is Jesus. No one else. NO ONE else.
This morning I was heart broken when I was doing a news story of eleven people who died this morning in my country Zambia in a public service mini bus just on the way to the central business district about thier daily activities.
They woke up on a normal Saturday morning like each of us did and they were not even travelling a long distance. Just home to the Central business district to do their activities with a plan of going back in the evening or just in a few hours time and a plan for the rest of the year.
Their lives however instantly ended after a headon collision with an oncoming truck.
What broke my heart is how eye witnesses said they heard people screaming that they did not want to die. Most of them DID however die.
While we take every day for granted,we should know that there are people who would DO ANYTHING to trade places to come back on earth and repent.
The bible does not say we should be disorderly. It is fine to plan for your life and secure a successful future. However even as you are doing this,is Jesus at the Centre of your life?
How many of us are listening to secular music EVERY ONCE in a while despite us knowing that it is a sin? We think we are no where near dying.
How many of us are not paying tithes (Stealing from God)?
How many of us are jumping in and out of holiness ?
How many of us have gone to sleep and have completely thrown away evangelism ?
Life is what it is and we can not change it. Adam and Eve sinned but God gave us a second chance at Salvation through Jesus Christ.
Granted, it is a difficult thing to obey God and live a holy life. However it is the only way to salvation. Our rest will only be found in Heaven. For now we must strive. We must strive to live holy,walk in the narrow way evangelise and do Gods work wholly.
We are not alone.
Jesus Christ said He will be with us always.
In all of this,we should however cast out the spirit of fear. We should not live in fear of death but find peace in our preparedness through Jesus Christ.2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Let us stop saying we will evangelise and instead DO IT. Even to our own brothers and sisters,our own families. They MUST NOT perish.
