CHOICES
Hi friends, its been a while and hope you’ve been well in the Lord.
I’d like to share with you what the Lord just made me realise today about the choices we make.
Most of the times when we make choices,we just think about ourselves. We think that since we are the ones making the choice in a given situation, then that choice just affects us but that’s not the case.
Today the Lord made me realise that the choices we make today also have an effect on our generations.
For example if someone chooses to live an ungodly life of drinking, watching secular Tv,listening to secular music, using profane language etc even when they know that the Lord is not pleased with such manner of living, they may think that they’re rebelling against the Lord and it is their choice to do so and therefore that will only affect them.
They know that by choosing such a lifestyle, they will go to hell when they die and be punished and that they think that will be the end and the consequence of the choice they made.
However due to the choice that person made, they have also negatively impacted those that saw them live that lifestyle for example their children.
No wonder the bible says that our lifestyles are a testimony to others whether bad or good.
We are preaching something to the world through they way we are living and setting an example of a lifestyle. That is why we have to show a good testimony.
2 Corinthians 3:2 “You are our epistles inscribed in our hearts, known and READ by all MEN.”
Many times,Ive seen instances where the whole family are drunkards, just because their Father is a drunkard.
On the other hand,if someone grows up in a christian home, they will witness a good testimony of how life should be lived.
The choice to serve God is ultimately theirs, but the environment they grew up in showed a good testimony.
That is why the bible also talks about raising children in the way of the Lord so that when they’re grown, they will not depart from it. One can only fulfill this if they are living a godly lifestyle themselves first.
Another example is about failing to wait on God for something. If for example someone is praying for a job from God and they’re impatient about it, that person may end up
backsliding and start living a worldly lifestyle again, hoping to look for ‘other’ means of survival.
This will mean the blessings of the Lord will not come to that person as they did not wait on Him and that person will not have the same kind of life as they would have had had they waited on God to give them what they prayed for.
These kind of people often end up keep living from hand to mouth as they do have a stable source of income.
This in turn translates into poverty for their family and a huge compromise on the education quality they can afford for their children. This also reduces the chances that their children have in attaining good education and having better chances at life opportunities which will help them succeed.
On the other hand,God’s blessings make one happy and have no regrets.
Proverbs 10:22 “The blessing of the Lord makes one rich,
And He adds no sorrow with it.”
So let us make choices today, knowing that our choices do not only affect us as we have always thought.
