Proverbs 22:9 "The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor".
I want to share what the Lord told me about throwing away food when we're satisfied.
We've probably heard it a lot of times that throwing food away just because you're satisfied is wrong.
However, I was surprised to hear it from the Lord Himself! I didn't think it was that big of a deal for God to even care until he told me about it. Every time I did this, I would feel grieved at my heart and somehow felt like God didn't like it.
So I began to wonder why it should really matter and the Holy Spirit reminded me of two verses in the bible which show that we should never waste food.
Mathew 14:20 "So they all ate and were filled, AND THEY TOOK UP TWELVE BASKETS FULL OF THE FRAGMENTS THAT REMAINED. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children."
Matthew 15:37 "So they all ate and were filled, AND THEY TOOK UP SEVEN LARGE BASKETS FULL OF THE FRAGMENTS THAT HAD REMAINED Now those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children."
He was showing me the example that the Lord left for us in the bible.
The reason the Lord cares greatly is because while we are throwing away our food, someone somewhere would do anything for it.
I was alarmed when I watched videos of some places like Haiti where the people are literally eating clay just to fill their stomachs because they have no food at all.
We should cook just enough and if any is left over by any chance, we can save it in the refrigerator and eat it later or give it to someone in need. The point is not to waste food as shown in the scriptures. Throwing food is a sin.
I've been debating for a long time whether to share this or not because it seemed so trivial. However the longer I've had to wait, the more I've been feeling like God is not pleased with me.
So I've decided to do His will because whether it sounds big or it sounds small,a message from God should be passed on. After all, there is no distinction of sin. It may sound big or small but the fact is that it's still sin and all sin is counted as unrighteousness to God.
Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Shalom!
